Medical students interested in pursuing a career in anesthesiology and any of its subspecialties can join the Anesthesiology Student Club. The club is a departmental sponsored organization offering regularly scheduled meetings, lectures, workshops, and social gatherings, and affords students the opportunity to interact with anesthesiology faculty, residents, and other medical students. Students from any year of medical school are invited to join and may do so by contacting Cherie Barker in the Department of Anesthesiology at 772-1221.
Message from the Anesthesiology Student Club President …
"UTMB’s Anesthesiology Student Club is a conduit for medical students seeking exciting and educational opportunities beyond the scope of the core clerkships. Our goal is to provide an educational and interactive environment for students interested in anesthesiology to interact directly with faculty and residents, through our lecture series, resident mentoring, airway workshop, and various social events.”
Our faculty sponsor, Dr. Alexis Lutschg (board certified Anesthesiologist with specialty in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and alumna of UTMB department of Anesthesiology) is always there to lend a helping hand. The student club has a Resident Mentoring Program which allows students to shadow a resident and experience anesthesiology from a resident's point of view.”
“Members of the club also enjoy various activities in addition to the lectures, airway workshop and resident mentoring. We are also involved in many of the social activities such as the yearly anesthesiology resident match party. Of course, we also have had wonderful t-shirts with anecdotes that are great for students, residents, and faculties of all ages! "Thank you for visiting our website and hope to see you in one of our many events!"
